It is envisioned that the number of breeds, and individual animals per breed, will increase over time, as the initiative gains momentum and additional resources become available. Our plan is to include more cattle breeds that will represent a fair geographical coverage of indigenous breeds in sub-Saharan Africa. We are especially looking to add cattle breeds from the North and South of African.
However, discussions with current partners are ongoing in relation to establishing a consortium around these samples and data, with a consortium agreement currently being finalized.
